Hello, and welcome to The Crossing. We would like to invite you here for your next outdoor education experience. We cater for groups of all sizes and have had many successful school and tertiary camps here already.
The Crossing offers large scale accommodation solutions for all your school camp and outdoor education needs. Established in 1962 as the first off mountain accommodation in the area, the lodge accommodates up to 128 in Family Units, Double Rooms, Private Bunk Rooms and Dorms, with central heating throughout.
We understand that the success of any school camp starts with a good accommodation base. Set up with school groups in mind, the layout allows for separate quarters for Boys and Girls with Adults rooms interspersed for ease of supervision. The spacious Dining, Lounge and outside areas allow for class time and evening recreational activities. Internet can be accessed in most locations on site. Away from outside influences like shops and bars, and with its fun and sturdy décor, the lodge affords relaxed supervision in this safe environment. We also have a full commercial kitchen with the option of self-catering or having us catering for you.
We are in the prime location for mountain activities in Ruapehu and can put you in contact with many local activities providers. We are a year round destination with many summer and winter activities available in the area. Our property is easy to find on State Highway 4, in a rural setting backing onto the Tongariro National Park. We have plenty of outdoor space and several animals for students to enjoy. Our central location allows for conveniently reduced travel distance to all the major attractions of the area.
Our staff are always on hand to help with any queries. We will do everything we can to assist in providing a quality EOTC experience for your students.
Shaun & Leanne (the owners) took over the business in July 2016 from Bryan & Miriam. With backgrounds in business and hospitality we will continue to provide a safe and friendly environment where guests can “feel at home” with a focus on the balance between value, quality and simplicity. We invite schools and groups to visit us and see what we have to offer.
We would like to welcome you here for your outdoor education activities this year and hopefully for many years to come.
We take mid-week (Sunday night to Friday morning) for school groups for both catered and self-catered options.
If you would like to inspect our facilities please contact us to arrange this. Contact us for more information.
