We have transport options to other locations also available from the lodge (charges may apply).

Can I take my own car to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing?

There is no all day parking at Mangatepopo carpark end (starting point). There is a four-hour parking limit that will be enforced with clamping or towing of cars, vans and campervans.
Ketetahi Road end (the finish point) has limited parking and will have restricted parking in places and single lane traffic.
We recommend that you book on our daily shuttle service, you can book with your accommodation or at reception when you arrive. The “Summer Crossing Package, 2 nights and transport” works out the cheapest option.
