FAQs
The only reason your booking will be declined is if your credit card declines or is not valid. Ensure you have sufficient funds available, and make sure you enter your card details correctly.
Have you checked your SPAM or JUNK MAIL folder? Has it been more than 24 hours since you submitted your booking request? Send us an email or give us a call and we will happily check up on your booking status.
Before you start the track we recommend you take the following:
- Back-pack
- Lunch
- 1.5L water (minimum)
- Wind-breaker jacket
- 2 warm tops
- Hiking boots / shoes
- Gloves
- Warm hat
- Sunglasses
- Sunscreen
You may also benefit by taking:
- Spare pair of socks
- Sticking plasters
- Extra energy snacks eg chocolate, nuts, trail mix or the like.
- Cell phone
- Camera
- Walking pole(s)

Check availability by putting in the dates you are wanting, wait for the page to refresh, and it will show you our availability. The availability shown is current to the minute.
It is easiest to book online as you can correctly submit all the required information. Check the accommodation page to choose your room type and see the rates. Follow any of the links on the accommodation page to the online booking page. Complete the online form and submit your booking request. You will receive a response within 24 hours.
Reception is open for check-in from 3.00pm to 8.00pm daily, all arrivals after this time will have the balance of their booking charged on their credit card, an envelope with your name on it will be on the reception counter, this will contain your room key and directions to your room.
We are happy to pickup/drop off from the bus/train stop in National Park Village. This is a free service we offer our guests.

In winter there is a snow shuttle from National Park Village to whakapapa village and the skifields operating. If you have no car we will provide a drop off and pick up service to the shuttle depot.
We have transport options to other locations also available from the lodge (charges may apply).
There is no all day parking at Mangatepopo carpark end (starting point). There is a four-hour parking limit that will be enforced with clamping or towing of cars, vans and campervans.
Ketetahi Road end (the finish point) has limited parking and will have restricted parking in places and single lane traffic.
We recommend that you book on our daily shuttle service, you can book with your accommodation or at reception when you arrive.The “Summer Crossing Package, 2 nights and transport” works out the cheapest option.
